LBO Skopje hosted the six-week MUNA Academy program

North Macedonia – RYCO’s Local Branch Office in North Macedonia recently hosted a six-week MUNA Academy program, providing participants with a unique opportunity to learn about regional cooperation, personal and professional development, and the work of the United Nations. The program was specifically designed to equip the youth with skills necessary to participate in Model UN conferences and other international events.

The participants were warmly welcomed by the Head of the Local Branch Office of RYCO in North Macedonia during the first workshop. They were then briefed about the Berlin Process, the work of RYCO, and the opportunities it offers for youth. The following guest lecturers were conducted by experienced UN workers, including Mr. Armen Grygoryan (Residence Coordinator of UNDP MK) and Mrs. Gina Andreadi (Deputy Head of Mission at the Hellenic Republic in North Macedonia). The participants gained insights into the work of the UN and the significance of the organization’s contribution to global peace and cooperation.

During the program, the participants learned about the core structure of Model UN conferences and started preparing to participate in an upcoming MUNA conference. The workshops were based on practical and experiential learning methodology where the participants were equipped on how to conduct themselves as delegates when participating in conferences abroad from experienced MUN delegates and members of the MUNA community, Mr. Filip Milenkoski and Ms. Teona Shemko.

Through collaborative efforts, the participants selected a global issue to address and narrowed it down to produce an appropriate topic for debate. They worked on creating persuasive opening speeches and position papers for their assigned countries and collaborated to establish a meaningful solution to their topic.

The MUNA Academy program provided the participants with a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of global issues, participate in international events and enhance their personal and professional development. The skills and knowledge acquired during the program will enable the participants to become effective leaders and contribute positively to their communities. The Academy was organised by The United Nations Association of North Macedonia (MUNA) and was coordinated by Mr. Daniel Cunningham.

RYCO is committed to supporting youth organisations and providing opportunities for regional cooperation and personal development to the youth and looks forward to similar programs and activities in the future.
